Several staff members attended a prestigious breakfast function in Sydney to be presented with their Macquarie University Voice Project 2019 Change Challenge award in the Small/Medium Business category.
Staff earned award through an impressive turnaround in culture and engagement across the spectrum of council's operations, as measured through staff surveys and a range of other engagement initiatives.
Chief executive Terry Dodds, accompanied by Peter Townes, Jenni Pentland, Kelly Pitkin and Gary Chorley were present to receive the award, with human resources manager Barry Frew also in attendance.
On the same day, May 23, fleet manager Brad Foan was in Melbourne at a graduation ceremony recognising his completion of a Diploma in Leadership & Management from Swinburne University and the Australasian Fleet Management Association (AfMA). This ends a seven-month journey of part time study for Brad, the majority of which was undertaken in his own time.
As a mark of his achievement, Brad was asked to address more than 400 of his peers at the AfMA Conference about his study journey, which he did with professionalism and confidence.
Mayor Peter Petty expressed his pride with the level of professionalism and dedication being exhibited by council staff.
"This culture has permeated right through the organisation," he said.
"I congratulate chief executive Terry Dodds on his visionary approach to engage our staff which ultimately has a flow on effect right through the community.
"As mayor, I am often in the Administration Office and have a lot of contact with ratepayers and residents right across the community. I have seen an attitude change and staff consciously embracing the council values of ICARE, being Integrity, Community Focus, Accountability, Respect and Excellence.
"I congratulate each and every one of our staff members for stepping up to the mark and taking responsibility for their role in some part of council's operations."
