President of the Tenterfield Rotary group, Jan Cross, said the ‘group study exchange’ is an educational, vocational and social activity run by the Rotary Foundation.
“It went extremely well – they all certainly had a good time while they were here,” Ms Cross said.
Visiting from Mexico were Mauricio Brindis Silva, Evelyn Vazquez Figueros, Carla Gill, Javier de Jesus Lopez Velez and Francisco Javier Banda.
The group were picked up in Tabulam after spending a number of days in the Lismore area.
“We took them sight-seeing – we went to Pieper’s chook farm, Bald Rock, the Lavender Farm (in Liston), School of Arts, Railway Museum, the Cork Tree and Mt Mackenzie,” she said.
While Tenterfield didn’t offer up the kindest weather conditions, the group were able to take in some of the local tourist attractions.
“We didn’t do some of the outdoor activities we had planned but it was still really good.”
The group travelled on to Stanthorpe where they attended a Rotary conference.
While here, the five visitors were hosted by various Rotary families in Tenterfield.
“One was an architect and there was an accountant, a security and communications worker, a lawyer and a solicitor.
“They all got a bit of an opportunity to see how those things work over here.
Two-years-ago two young Tenterfield Rotarians had the opportunity to visit the United States for a few weeks and Ms Cross said they were hoping the tradition would continue.
“We’re all pretty keen to keep hosting people and sending people out.”
