Dr Kupoluyi fills the permanent GP position in the clinic, and is also providing some on-call Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) services at the Tenterfield Community Hospital as well.
Dr Kupoluyi has moved to Tenterfield with his wife Remi, three-year-old old son Israel and 11-month-old daughter Grace. He said he is passionate about combining a career in general practice and hospital-based work, and is settling in well to his new role.
Recognising that a lot of patients may develop symptoms towards the end of the day or in the early evening, Dr Kupoluyi will also be offering after-hours home visits.
“I am dedicated to providing the absolute best service I can for the residents in Tenterfield,” he said.
“That will involve providing GP services with the team from the Naas Street Primary Health Care Clinic during normal working hours, and I am also going to start providing after-hours home visits in the very near future to ensure my patients have access to non-urgent medical services after the clinic has closed.”
Shane Hatton – CEO of Rural and Remote Medical Services Ltd (RaRMS) who organised the placement – said the company found that the VMO workload in the Tenterfield Community Hospital over the past 6-12 months has restricted the hours that the clinic has been able to see patients, with Dr Harbindar Singh and the other VMOs kept busy in the hospital.
“We’ve been working really hard to find a GP like Tobi to work full time in the clinic to support Harbindar and the other VMOs, and we are delighted that Tobi and his family have relocated permanently to Tenterfield to work with us.”
The clinic is open Mondays to Fridays from 9am to 5pm, and can be contacted on (02) 6739 5207 for appointments with Dr Kupoluyi.
