It seems like only yesterday that the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter op shop was celebrating its first year of operation, but on Saturday volunteers were cutting the cake for birthday number two.

Birthday celebrations coincided with a bumber weekend of sales, with Oracles of the Bush visitors pushing the turnover to $1100.
After the excitement of the first year, turnover is down a little this year in comparison by around $6-8000, Helicopter Support Group president John ‘Dodge’ Landers said.
Overall the support group coffers are healthy accumulating $56,000 just since October’s AGM. This reflects the proceeds from the group’s participation in the Christmas Fair, the golf day on March 1 and the rugby day at Federation Park on March 24.
Mr Landers called the March effort ‘astronomical’.
“I told everyone to give themselves a pat on the back. There wouldn’t be a support group in Australia raising $30,000 in one month.”
The op shop has plenty of winter stock, but more volunteers are always welcome.
