First off the mark was the Sir Henry Parkes Memorial Public School last Thursday where classrooms were brimming over with excited grandparents, great grandparents and grandchildren.
After classroom inspection everyone gathered in the school hall to watched the class performances and then enjoyed a magnificent morning tea prepared by the school’s Parents and Citizens Association.
The performances were all well received with a more than a few teary grandparents overwhelmed by their grandchildren’s performances. The teachers as always did a great job putting the acts together and preparing props.
It was certainly a program with audience appeal, including instrumentals (recorders) and classics like Take Me Home Country Roads and Grandma’s Feather Bed.
Grandparents Day at Tenterfield High School was on Tuesday, April 10 and at St Joseph’s on Wednesday, April 11.
Sadly, though, Monday’s Golf Club Luncheon along with Saturday’s bus trip have been cancelled, although the screening of Finding Your Feet at the Tenterfield Cinema at 2pm on Wednesday and Friday’s Bowling Club lunch and concert will go ahead as planned.
“I'm terribly disappointed that we didn’t get the rollup we hoped, but financially we couldn’t justify going ahead with the small numbers,” Seniors Week organiser Ted Hartfield said.
