Wallangarra State School held its interhouse sports day recently between Wattle and Waratah sporting houses. After a hard fought battle which was really close until the end, Wattle was victorious.
The students all competed well and showed great sportsmanship. A special thank you to Bob and Nancye Tuner who for the past 15 years have donated a trophy and medallions for the senior girl and senior boy 800 metres winner and placegetters. It is great to have the support of the community.
Thank you to the P&C who provided the canteen for the day and all the parents who came along to support their children. A couple of long standing records were broken as well.
Longstanding records broken were:
- Junior Boy - Isaac Kirk broke the discus record that has been held since 2005 (16.69m James Stephenson). Isaac threw 19.94m; and the long jump record that has been held since 2001 ( 2.79m Daniel Mannion). Isaac jumped 2.70m.
- Junior Girl - Ruby Kirk broke the sprints record that had been held since 1999 (11.69s Katie McMeniman). Ruby ran 11.53s
- Senior Girl - Caitlyn Springborg broke the shotput record that was held since 2005 (Jessica Wilson 7.35m). Caitlyn threw 8.21m.
