Daffodil Day brings a welcome splash of colour to herald spring, and this year was no different as volunteers again manned the Rouse Street stall outside the Benevolent Society on August 24.
Janet Hayne said the stall was well-supported this year, with proceeds of $1600 up on last year to support NSW Cancer Council research and education initiatives.

The stall of course was abundant with beautiful flowers (benefiting from hot house growing conditions and certainly not drought-affected) and other Cancer Council merchandise. It also benefited from raffles for a hamper for goodies (won by the ever-supportive Peter Chittick) and from a stunning bouquet of native flowers courtesy of Catherine Hay (won by lucky Les Ruming).
Mrs Hayne herself took home a bunch of yet-to-open daffodils and said she enjoyed their display for a good week.
Coordinators Jenny Chittick and Mrs Hayne thanked all the ladies who donated their time and effort to the stall, and those who supported it.
“It makes our day more effective,” Mrs Hayne said.
And it was nice weather this time around, in contrast to hail storms last year. The ladies and Daffodil Day will be back again next year, so keep an eye out for the splash of yellow.
