The Yowie Country Rally organised by the Gold Coast Tweed Motorsporting Club on December 1 brought some high speed and tactical excitement to Woodenbong.
There were 25 cars in six varying classes participating including many classics, and the event was run as a one-day club special stage rally.
Based at the Woodenbong Showground, and timed sections at The Glen and Boomi Creek route was split into two individual stages run twice in both directions.
The outright Winners were Clayton Hoy (driver) and Alan Stean (co-driver) driving a Mitsubishi 1998 Evo 6 in class 4WD, over Glenn Brinkman and Harvey Smith driving a 2006 Evo 9 and third was Garry Yeomans and Kam Baker driving a 1997 Evo 5.
The evening was very entertaining with the presentation of the trophies given by the Woodenbong Yowie.
Gold Coast Tweed Motorsporting Club Inc., a group of wonderful volunteers organising amazing events such as this Rally and bringing much needed opportunities for fundraising and increased trade to local businesses and the roll on effect is felt by many communities is to be commended.

Woodenbong Progress Association were the fortunate recipients of being able to voluntarily cater for the drivers and their crews, officials and visitors accompanying this event. These funds raised will be expended back into the Woodenbong community. Opportunities like this are treasured by small communities.
So, with much appreciation our thanks go to the many hard working, diligent volunteers and interested parties and anyone who gave in any way, to make this rally event the wonderful success it was.
