"In the last funding round alone, we delivered 35 successful grants totalling $19,750 to athletes in our electorate," Mr Joyce said.
"There is no doubt we have a wealth of sports talent here in the New England but where you live should not determine how successful you are in your representative pursuits.
"That's where this program comes into play, assisting rural and regional athletes cover costs associated with attending representative sporting competitions such as entry fees, travel, accommodation, uniforms and equipment."
Funding starts at $500 per grant, with additional provisions for longer distance travel.
"I would be thrilled to see as much of that $11.8 million being awarded to athletes in the New England," Mr Joyce said.
To be considered for the next assessment period, applications must be received by next Monday, September 30. For more information, including the eligibility criteria and to apply, go to www.sportaus.gov.au/lsc.
