Donna first started full-time as a journalist at the Star in 2006, before later working for several other New England newspapers as a casual journalist.
For two years she moved to Glen Innes where she was editor of the Glen Innes Examiner.
When she left the Examiner in 2014 she returned to Jennings, and later the following year was again writing for several of the region's newspapers.
In 2016 she was appointed senior journalist for the Tenterfield Star and has spent the past five years covering the local community.
Over the years she has seen the highs and lows, covering everything from the devastation of bushfires to celebrations in the community.
"I love the community stories," Donna said.
"You see the volunteerism and people going above and beyond for their community."
Since leaving the Star, Donna has been busy farming now there has been a change of seasons.
But she hasn't given up writing completely, and is helping out locally with some publicity work, as well as delving into family history research.
