Hosted by selected venues, music could be heard all along the main street. Vast amounts of coffee and cake were consumed as customers listened to daytime performances by Jess Lockwood, Cameron Bolton, Josh Moylan, Dave Moore, Helen Conroy, Rebekah Tumbridge, Amy Smith and Christine Davis.
Mr Harris secured a grant to mount the festival and to create a database of local talent, encouraging venues to tap into this ready source of entertainment. He is hoping to encourage an appreciation of live music and how much it can contribute towards an enjoyable dining experience.
A highlight of the festival was the second Folk & Celtic Fusion Vidfest held on Saturday night at the cinema, this time punctuated with live music from harpist Sam Black and Celtic trio Tri to set the mood for a fabulous night of music.
Meanwhile at the Telegraph Hotel Vinnie and the Cuban Missiles were bombarding an enthusiastic audience with covers of all the favourite rock songs from the 50’s and 60’s.
The festival concluded on Sunday with Ms Black playing the harp and Mr Harris on piano at Stannum House’s ‘Open House Discovery’ while Cameron Bolton entertained the punters at the Commercial Boutique Hotel. Meanwhile Jess Lockwood played at Arrajay Down’s for a special luncheon.
Mr Harris considered the weekend a great success.
“It gave local musicians and venues the opportunity to get to know each other,” he said.
“And the good news is that the music plays on with performances on Australia Day at Liston, Wallangarra, Jennings and Mingoola.
“With the advent of the online database you can expect to hear live and local music much more frequently in the future.”
