Hopefully the gorgeous autumn Tenterfield weather we’re experiencing will be back for ANZAC Day next Wednesday, April 25 (although it can bucket down before and after that).
Tenterfield RSL Sub-branch has released the program for the day’s commemorations, starting with the dawn service from 5.30-6.30am, starting at Tenterfield Memorial Hall before moving on to Tenterfield Cemetery.
A gunfire breakfast will follow from 6.30-8am back at Memorial Hall.
Those participating in the ANZAC Day parade are asked to gather in the council building’s southern car park (opposite the Telegraph Hotel) from 10am, for the parade to commence at 10.30am.
The parade will proceed from the Telegraphy Hotel down Rouse Street to Memorial Hall, followed by a Commemoration Service at the hall from 11am to noon.
For those wishing to join the RSL Sub Branch luncheon at the Tenterfield Bowling Club from 12.30pm, contact Ray Holmes on (02) 6736 3120 as bookings are essential and must be made by Wednesday, April 18.
To conclude proceedings in fine ANZAC Day tradition, there will be Two Up at the Telegraph Hotel from 2.30pm.
Mingoola
The Mingoola community continues its commemoration of noted locals who served in war, this year acknowledging the contributions of Sir Michael Bruxner.
Sir Bruxner’s grandson Angus Bruxner is travelling to Mingoola to address the gathering at the Anzac Day afternoon tea at Mingoola Hall from 2.45pm.
Commemorations then move to Mingoola Public School where an ANZAC Day Service will take place from 4pm, officiated by Jonathon South (son of local identity Bob South) who is currently in the armed services.
Torrington
Assemble at Torrington Hall for the 5am march.
There will be a Dawn Service in the War Memorial Park from 5.30am, followed by breakfast in Torrington Hall.
Drake
The 6am Dawn Service at Drake Hall will be followed by an Anzac Day Breakfast.
From noon enjoy Anzac Day activities at the Lunatic Hotel.
Urbenville
Following the 9.30am church service at St Marks ANZAC Memorial Church assemble at Memorial Hallf at 10.45am for the march to the Memorial Gates on Clarence Way.
There will be an 11am Morning Service at the showground, and a short service from 11.45am at Urbenville Cemetery.
Anzac Day luncheon will be served at the Bowling Club from 1pm.
Legume
There will be a Morning Service at Legume Cemetery from 8am.
Liston
The 5.30am Dawn Service at the War Memorial will be followed by breakfast at Liston Hall.
Jennings/Wallangarra
There will be a Dawn Service from 5.15am at the RSL Hall in Barrawell Street, Wallangarra followed by a pilgrimage to the cemetery.
The ANZAC Day march starts from the RSL Hall at 11.30am and proceeds to the Wallangarra School of Arts Hall, where a Commemoration Service will be held from 12 noon.
A light luncheon will then be served at the RSL Hall.
