Former NRL State of Origin star Billy Moore recently returned to his alma mater, visiting Wallangarra State School to speak to the students about his achievements in the NRL and about striving for your dream even when you come from a small town.
Billy signed autographs and generously donated memorabilia to be raffled by the school’s P&C for Father’s Day. Staff and students appreciated him taking the time to return to his former primary school.
Billy was a forward who represented the NSW Under 17s while at high school in Tenterfield before coming to Norths in 1989. He was first selected in Queensland's State of Origin side in 1992 and remained a mainstay of the Queensland side for three seasons.
He became part of State of Origin folklore by calling out ‘Queenslander! Queenslander!’ to motivate an underdog Maroons team in 1995 (they went on to win the series), and joined Australia’s World Cup squad at the end of that year.
