Haddington's dedicated activity officer Michelle McBurney asked a resident what they most missed, and he said wriggling his feet in hot sand and then in the sea. Corralling his biker mates for the event -- to be held on the grounds on Saturday, September 14 -- is Guyra-based motorcyclist Dan McGinty. Mr McGinty said he's been to "a hundred-thousand" bike shows, but he's more into the people side of the event rather than the hardware.
He's part of the Christian Motorcycle Association, and he was more than happy to participate when Ms McBurney reached out. He hopes there will be lots of bikes turn up for people to check out, and local bikers are welcome.

"It's so nice to see some bikes," Haddington resident Ray Phelan said of his special preview. He's had three progressive leg amputations over the past 20 years following a shark bite, but sitting atop the machine brought back memories.
Proceeds from the bike show and fete, which will feature all the usual attractions including stalls run by residents, will go towards the seniors playground which will also provide an activity for families visiting with children.
"We have a lot of young hearts in old bodies," Ms McBurney said.
"They (the residents) want to be part of the fundraising. They're not after handouts, and are happy to work for it."
