Several Tenterfield chefs and caterers are collaborating to ensure delicious food is served at the gala sit-down dinner for 400 at Tenterfield Memorial Hall on November 21. They're intent on sourcing and accessing as much local produce as they can to showcase the menu as a real Taste of Tenterfield.
To that end, shire-wide farm produce is being sourced and no matter how small your garden is they would like to talk to you about those gems you produce that may be suitable to use on the menu.
Already one producer has come forward to supply pickled ginger and turmeric for the menu. The caterers are seeking a wide range of local produce including avocados, berries, nuts, beef, pork and lamb, fresh vegetables, garlic, honey and lavender, with local wines and beverages being served.
All producers' names/farms will be included on displays prepared for the evening.
They are also looking to connect with people who enjoy volunteering, to help out with the gala event. A list is being complied of volunteers able to assist with either preparations in the week prior or on the night itself (including those with Responsible Service of Alcohol certification) or in the cleanup afterwards.
If you are able to assist with the preparations or produce for the dinner, or at the markets and Eat Street event being held in Jubilee Park from 8am on the Saturday, email Kim Rhodes at krh05737@bigpond.net.au or call her on 0448 673 373.
The Sesquicentennial 150-year committee is meeting regularly to prepare for the three-day Tenterfield Shire event.
Members of the Tenterfield Shire community will have the opportunity to purchase tickets to attend the dinner in the not-too-distant future.
