If you’re a bit of a history nut or have jumped on the bandwagon of tracing your family tree, a free workshop at the Tenterfield Library on Tuesday, March 13 from 1.30-3.30pm can help you on that journey.
The workshop will provide plenty of advice and support for accessing digitised newspapers and other resources on Trove, which boasts more than half-a-million books, images, historic newspapers, maps, music, archives and more.
Through the database researchers can not only uncover family connections but also build a picture of their lives, be it through picnic races, court appearances, school reports and other life moments.
The database is an information resource not only for people but also events, or possibly even buildings and institutions.
(The Tenterfield Star is sadly not in the Trove database, but can be accessed in a similar way through the Tenterfield Library.)
The workshop will share techniques of drilling down through all the available data to reach the required information. Experienced Trove editors from the Family History Group and library staff will be available to assist beginners.
Book a library computer or bring your own laptop and connect to the free WiFi available in the library, or just observe the process if you’re device-free. Also bring along some ideas for a topic to research.
