It may not have been quite that bad but Councillor Gary Verri had much pleasure in sharing a photograph of Urben Street, Urbenville with his fellow Tenterfield Shire councillors to demonstrate the popularity of this far outreach of the shire over the Easter long weekend.
Cr Verri said 4WD wagons lined the main street on Easter Saturday, to the extent that some were calling for more parking.
He said the traffic numbers are in line with those in the early 1990’s before all the accidents on Mt Lindesay Road scared travellers away.
Council’s business development officer Harry Bolton noted a marked increase in traffic in that stretch of the shire since the announcement of major upgrade works to the highway, even though they’re yet to begin.
