Of the seven Diocese of Armidale awards presented, two came to Tenterfield. The diocese covers most of north-west NSW, embracing 24 parish schools.
Melissa Ware earned the award for Early Career Teacher, while Tracey Butler was named top Volunteer Supporter.
Other awards were bestowed for experienced teacher, school officer, innovative program, and students demonstrating Catholic Spirit.
The theme for CSW 2018 is Serve. Learn. Lead, reflecting the schools’ focus on serving the community and being leaders of faith and learning.
“The Spirit of Catholic Education Awards is a celebration of the gift of Catholic education and unites school communities,” the diocese’ director of school Chris Smyth said.
“It is an opportunity to thank all those who contribute to Catholic education in our diocese.”
This year schools are also celebrating the Year of Youth which will be a focus at the Catholic Schools Week Mass and Spirit of Catholic Education Awards.
“The recipients have modelled the Catholic values and principles that underpin our communities,” Mr Smyth said.
“They have worked to ensure learning for all is the focus of our schools. These are the features of a self-reflecting and self-improving Catholic professional learning community and individuals like these award recipients are role models for all of us.”
