Vince Sherry – chair of the Tenterfield Chamber of Tourism, Industry and Business which is behind the shop local campaign – said the first batch of cards has just about run out and another 1000 have been ordered. This time cards will bear sponsorship from the Tenterfield Bowling Club, who has come onboard to have its logo displayed on the card face.

These new cards should arrive by the end of August, in plenty of time to be considered for Christmas gift lists. Mr Sherry said the launch of the card last year just 10 days before Christmas curtailed its chances of being included as a Christmas gift last year, but that won’t be the case this time around.
“It’s a success story,” he said, as could be said of the chamber itself.
The chamber’s AGM will be held on August 1, from 7-8.30pm at the Tenterfield Golf Club. The agenda includes the election of the Board of Directors and updates on progress so far.
All are invited and there will also be a Q&A session for those new to the organisation to considering joining. The chamber currently has 75 members and would welcome more.
Of course the next big event on the chamber calendar is the inaugural Peter Allen Festival on September 7-9, and Mr Sherry said ticket sales are ‘going gangbusters’. Danny Elliott’s Tenterfield to Rio Peter Allen tribute show on the Friday night is almost sold out, with limited tickets still available for the Saturday matinee.
