“We don’t want to hone in on what they do with tourism,” Cr Rogan said.
“It’s more to discuss strategic direction, moving forward. It’s bigger picture stuff, seeing where we may be able to help.”
Cr Rogan said this could mean, for instance, providing assistance packages for new companies or helping existing companies to apply for grants.
He said committee input would also be useful to vet any new proposal and provide advice to any prospective new operators before reporting to council.
Mayor Peter Petty, Cr Rogan and Cr Gary Verri will fill the council positions, along with two staff members.
Expressions of interest will soon be sought to fill a further five positions from the community.
Cr Rogan is hoping to get a representative each for National Parks, the caravan industry and events, with another to represent the east of the shire and another the west/south region.
