There will be a bevy of drought support, family-fun and entertainment on offer at the Tenterfield Show this year, all provided through the Federal Government’s Drought Communities Program Fund.

The fund is giving everyone free admission to the Tenterfield Show to assist struggling families to enjoy some recreation and quality family time.

Then from 10am on the Saturday (February 9), a bundle of drought support and assistance will be available for farmers and their families. Free support, information and advice will be on offer from services including the Salvation Army, the Rural Resilience Program, Office of The Hon Barnaby Joyce MP, CWA, Presbyterian Church, Local Land Services, Department of Primary Industries, Foodbank, Primary Health Care Nurses, Rural Adversity Mental Health Program, St Vincent’s De Paul and the Rural Financial Counselling Service.
Once you have explored all the drought support options, farmers and their families can pop in to the pamper marquee next door where some light relief will be on offer.
A complimentary massage or a facial will be available from 10am to 12 noon, and then haircuts and facials from 2pm to 5pm, It’s all free of charge for farmers, although limited spots are available.
“Come down to the Drought Assistance Marquee which will be located near the AM White Gate (off Manners Street) above the Show Jumping Ring,” Mayor Peter Petty said.
“Pull up a chair and see what support or advice is on offer, then treat yourself or a family member to some pampering to boost the spirit and wellbeing.”
