While the lineup was incredible the aim of the exercise was to foster a love of reading, which it did. School principal Cherie Yates said in one example the participation of Thelma the Unicorn tweaked the children's interest in the book of the same name. Year 3 enjoyed sourcing it and diving into the story of learning to love who you are, even if you don't have sparkles.
The parade of characters concluded with one of the school's regular buddy reading sessions, where older students share favourite books with those still learning to read.
Mrs Yates credited the Year 6 students with demonstrating great leadership in getting into their book characters and sharing the great world of books with their younger counterparts.
