On Monday Premier Gladys Berejiklian confirmed there were 478 new locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm Sunday night.
Of these, 35 cases were recorded in Western NSW, and Ms Berejiklian said she remains concerned about the spread of the virus in Dubbo, Walgett, Brewarrina, Bourke, particularly around Indigenous vaccination rates in those communities.
There have been four cases in Armidale - all in the same household - and Tamworth was also in lockdown last week after a known case visited the city.
From 5pm Saturday, most local businesses, services and facilities closed to the public, in line with NSW Health orders.
All Tenterfield Shire Council buildings and sites have closed to the public.
"People are doing the right thing. We'll get through it, it's just another challenge we've got to deal with," Tenterfield mayor Peter Petty said.
Council's Waste Transfer Stations and the Community Recycling Centre will not be open to the public. All garbage collection, both kerbside and industrial bins will continue as normal.
