An incredible $7300 was raised by the Rotary street stall convened last month to aid local farmers, thanks to the support of those who donated items to be sold and to the brisk custom.
Rotary Club of Tenterfield’s Caitlin Reid said the stall was well-provided with an assortment of produce and fruit and vegetables, baked goods, books and evening knitted items.

Matt Richardson of the Garden Shop fired up the barbecue to sell sausage sangas for the cause, donating the sausages himself with Tenterfield Bakery providing the bread. Once the supply of 240 lamb sausages was exhausted, Premier Meats stepped into the void to keep the sausages sizzling.
Traffic to the street stall was brisk, and Ms Reid said people were very generous.
“There was lots of ‘keep the change’ and outright donations,” she said.
She extended a big thank you to all who helped stock the stall, and to the customers who supported it.
The fundraising effort continued on the Saturday where raffle tickets in the two-tonne load of firewood and more sales continued.
All the proceeds will be passed on to the local branch of the Salvation Army, who has programs in place to support those drought-affected.
The Rotary Club is also considering relief initiatives like a Christmas function for farming families or homestay holidays for children from the land, depending on how the drought persists.
